A glimpse into the future: philanthropy and authentic connections

Philanthropy is not merely charity—it is a living, dynamic ecosystem where hearts, resources, and vision come together to create real, lasting change. It is the power of connections that amplifies impact, transforming even the smallest gesture into a catalyst for collective inspiration. Because true change is born from action and drive to build something greater—together.

This vision was at the heart of the gathering at Dynamo City Camp in Milan on February 24, 2025—a space that became the stage for a moment of humanity, inspiration, and dialogue on the role of philanthropy in Italy and the value of diversity and inclusion. These principles not only shape the missions of Dynamo Camp and the Fondo Filantropico Italiano, but also made them natural partners in this event.

This event was part of the broader journey of TechEmotion Club, our exclusive membership program designed to foster meaningful connections within a community of visionaries, changemakers, and leaders.

A meaningful experience that provided insightful lessons, allowing us to share stories of commitment and transformation. The event was opened by Mattia Mor, CEO of Emotion Network, who introduced the work of the two foundations, stating, “Giving help to those who help means amplifying impact and generating new opportunities.” He further emphasized, “Collaborating with Dynamo Camp and the Italian Philanthropic Fund means being part of a system in which change becomes reality.”

Dynamo Camp: where care becomes freedom of expression

The microphone then passed to Serena Porcari, CEO of Fondazione Dynamo Camp ETS and Dynamo Academy, who introduced the extraordinary work carried out daily by Dynamo Camp—a model of social enterprise that operates sustainably to broaden access to philanthropy. More than just a camp, it is a place where children and young people with serious or chronic illnesses, including neurodevelopmental disorders, can experience something beyond care. Since 2007, Dynamo Camp has provided recreational therapy to those who need it most, offering free activities in music, theater, dance, and film, empowering participants through creative expression.

Born in the tranquility of Tuscany, the project has now expanded into urban settings with initiatives like City Camps, bringing the magic of Dynamo to metropolitan areas, supported by an annual fundraising of €9.8 million.

“We work every day to ensure unique experiences for children and families with special needs, creating an environment where they can express themselves freely through art, sports, and creativity,” explained Serena Porcari, highlighting the value of inclusion. She added, “What makes Dynamo Camp special is that here, care also happens through play. A game that is not just entertainment, but a form of expression, of growth, of freedom. It is a way to give children and families back the chance to feel part of a community that welcomes them without judgment, without limits.”

Looking ahead, Dynamo Camp is developing a franchise model, a strategic move to bring its mission to new cities and offer more families the opportunity to experience its transformative impact.

Fondo Filantropico Italiano: giving trust, generating impact

The second talk focused on a crucial topic: the role of philanthropy in Italy and the need to make it more accessible and effective. Marcello Gallo, President of the Fondo Filantropico Italiano, highlighted a surprising fact: despite €11 trillion in private wealth in Italy, only 0.21% of financial assets are allocated to philanthropy.

“Italians are generous, but they often feel overwhelmed by requests or distrustful of charities. Our goal is to create a bridge between those who want to donate and the organizations that can truly make a difference,” Gallo explained, noting that 83% of donors describe themselves as bewildered, while 60% perceive the nonprofit sector as lacking transparency.

In response to this mistrust, Fondo Filantropico Italiano acts as a philanthropic intermediary, facilitating both domestic and international giving while providing tools like the Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)—a flexible solution that enables donors to direct resources toward specific projects.

As Simonetta Schillaci, the foundation’s Executive Vice President, explained: “With tools like Donor-Advised Funds, we can make philanthropy more accessible and simple, through a strategic approach that allows people to support causes without having to create their own foundation, reducing costs and administrative complexities so that anyone can contribute to a lasting impact.”

Beyond facilitating donations, the Fund actively supports donors in designing tailored philanthropic projects, such as scholarships, programs for women survivors of violence, and initiatives for the care of elderly people’s pets.A vital initiative that underscores how philanthropy is not just an isolated act of generosity, but a thriving ecosystem capable of generating value and large-scale impact.

What Truly Makes Us Human?

Making connections, sharing ideas, creating impact. Dynamo Camp and Fondo Filantropico Italiano have demonstrated that philanthropy is not just about giving—it is a catalyst for transformation, not only for those who receive but also for those who choose to engage.

What makes us truly human is our ability to look beyond ourselves, to recognize the power of connection, and to turn help into opportunity, trust into action, and empathy into real impact. It is the choices we make every day, guided by the values we want to define us, that shape our path. And it is in the awareness of these actions that we see the true reflection of who we are, both as individuals and as a society.

“Our mission is to build connections between people, ideas, and skills, creating ecosystems that generate human, economic, and social value. Every meeting, every event we organize is designed to foster dialogue, the exchange of ideas, and collaboration across different worlds: entrepreneurs, innovators, creatives, philanthropists, and investors,” concluded Mattia Mor, highlighting how the TechEmotion Summit 2025, scheduled for May 28-29 at the Triennale di Milano, will mark another step in strengthening this shared vision.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and made this gathering truly special. Because extending a hand is more than just a gesture—it is about opening possibilities, bridging distances, and leaving a mark that reaches beyond ourselves.

It is about building something that lasts, together.
